The easy cheesy snack

The easy cheesy snack

If you have bread and some parmesan cheese, you are well armed to make this delicious snack. What's good about it is that the bread doesn't have to be 'baked that day fresh', so if you have some leftover slices in the cupboard that have lost that loving feeling, use them to create these rounds. And if you think that the round shape is a little boring?  Use a star cutter, or any other shape that takes your fancy.  For that rustic look, you could even simply tear the bread into pieces. 10 slices white bread olive oil, for brushing...

One for all the baked bean kids

One for all the baked bean kids

Baked beans...pretty much a staple food item and found in many, many pantries around the country.  How many times over the years did my kids want their little tin of baked beans to snack on.   Long live the baked bean!! This recipe is one I've had for around 16 years, I've no idea where it came from but I'm sure glad I came across it all those years ago. Rock cakes

This is one of those recipes that I'm sure has been around since the dark ages, I know I've been making them like, forever! While some recipes I've come across include citrus peel, I have always kept mine really simple and added only sultanas.  Unlike the implication of the title, I have this innate need to make them smooth and rounded. 1/2 cups self-raising flour 1/2 cup plain flour 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/3 cup caster sugar 100g butter, chilled & chopped 3/4 cup sultanas 1 egg, lightly beaten 1/3 cup milk Preheat oven to 180°C.  Line 2 baking trays...

I stick with just the good old standard choc chips but you could instead use white, dark or caramel choc chips, heck you could even combine some of the different flavours if you wanted to. 2 cups self raising flour 1/2 cup caster sugar 1 cup mashed banana 1/2 cup choc chips 3 eggs, lightly beaten 85g butter,...

Is this the simplest snack ever?

Card 1 cheese frittata savoury snacks vegetables

Is this the simplest snack ever?

I'm all about homemade and I'm all about simple food and let me tell you, it doesn't get any simpler than this. These Cheesy Vegie Bites have only 4 ingredients and odds are you will ALWAYS have those ingredients in your kitchen at any moment in time.  What's more, they are super quick to make (even faster if you have a food processor instead of having to hand grate).  Make them for the lunchbox or as an after school tummy filler. Swap the ingredients listed for other things, for example I LOVE peas and would add them but my kids...
